Men’s final: Blanqué and Leygue win back their crown

Absent through injury in 2025, Bastien Blanqué and Thomas Leygue, the No. 2 seeds, regained the title they had won in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The final against Maxime Forcin and Maxime Joris was closer than the score suggests: a first set decided on a tie-break (7-5), a second won 6/3, and in total 81 points won to 75. The champions hit 46 winners, against 37 for their opponents.

“It was a crazy match and an equally crazy final,” Blanqué told the FFT, before adding: “We’re really happy to remain the best in France.” Speaking to Padel Magazine, he admitted that these championships had been “one of the toughest mentally” of his career. Leygue summed up the final in a sentence: “We held on, we held on, and they ended up cracking before us.”

The numbers show the scale of the achievement. It is Bastien Blanqué’s seventh French title, four with Leygue and three with Johan Bergeron, and his ninth consecutive final. For Joris it was a first national final; for Forcin, his second.

The men’s draw

  • Semi-finals: Blanqué / Leygue beat Vincent / Bayard 4/6, 6/3, 6/3, in a match that finished after midnight; Joris / Forcin beat Hugounenq / Coulombeau 4/6, 6/3, 7/6.
  • Quarter-finals: Blanqué / Leygue beat Boronad / Robert 6/2, 4/6, 6/3; Bayard / Vincent knocked out the defending champions, Guichard / Vives, 7/6, 6/2; Joris / Forcin beat Seurin / Vanbauce 7/6, 7/6; Hugounenq / Coulombeau beat Fonteny / Bergeron 6/4, 7/6.

The defeat of Dylan Guichard, the French No. 1 in the FFT ranking, and Vives, the 2025 champions, was the big upset of the draw.

Women’s final: Godallier and Touly, a perfect week

In the women’s event, Léa Godallier / Carla Touly left no room for doubt: not a set dropped all week, and a final wrapped up in around an hour against Louise Bahurel and Lucile Pothier, 6/3, 6/1. The champions won 58 points to 32 and made only 9 unforced errors, against 20 for their opponents.

It is Léa Godallier’s sixth consecutive title, French champion every year since 2021, and the first for Carla Touly, who was playing her third final. For Lucile Pothier, it was a fourth final lost in a row. Alix Collombon, seven-time champion and French No. 1 in the FFT ranking, did not enter this year.

The title was followed by an announcement: a few hours after the final, Carla Touly announced the end of her professional career. In remarks gathered by Padel Magazine, she also defended her partner’s versatility: “I think we need to stop saying that Léa is a right-side player.”

The women’s draw

  • Semi-finals: Godallier / Touly beat Dardaine / Mansart 7/5, 6/4; Bahurel / Pothier beat Marcarie / Senjean 6/3, 6/0.

Para padel

In the wheelchair event, Tony Boval and Sébastien Husser-Walther retained their title against Kevin Piette and Matthias Bergs. The French para padel championship has existed since 2024.

Where French padel stands

These championships come at a time when padel is changing scale in France. According to FFT figures released in September during the Paris Major, the country has 850,000 players (compared with around 500,000 in 2024), 150,500 padel licence holders at the end of August (+43.3%), 4,520 courts (+41.2% in a year) and 1,348 clubs offering padel. The October FFT ranking lists more than 152,000 men and 22,000 women.

At the top, the best French players are progressing on the world tour: in September Dylan Guichard reached 85th in the FIP world ranking, his career high, and Thomas Leygue reached the round of 16 of the Paris Major after coming through qualifying. We look at the rise of padel in France in our article on padel in France in figures.

From the French Championships to your club

The French Championships are the summit of a circuit of approved tournaments open to all licence holders, from P25 to P3000. If you are new to competition, note that FFT tournaments are played with advantage or the golden point, not with the professional tour’s Star Point.

To prepare for a first tournament, two shots make the difference at every level: a reliable serve and a volley that holds the net. Our guides on the serve and the volley start from what the best players do. As for equipment, the SCUD White S3 offers the power of a diamond shape with forgiving 12K carbon; the SCUD Wood W1, teardrop-shaped and 350 g, favours manoeuvrability.
