The racket

Born of wood, built for the fight.

The SCUD Wood S1 goes back to the roots of padel: a wood finish that recalls the very first solid faces, reinterpreted with today's technology. The tradition of wood and the modernity of carbon: the name sums up the project, born of wood, built for the fight.

Beneath that raw look, the Wood S1 pairs 12K carbon and fibreglass with a soft EVA foam for an excellent balance of comfort, control and power. The 12K carbon brings responsiveness and stability, while the fibreglass softens the feel and improves forgiveness at impact. The foam completes the package with a precise, dynamic response, for an all-round game.

It is also the most manoeuvrable racket in the range: teardrop shape, medium balance and 350 g, for a centred sweet spot and a racket that moves fast at the net as well as in defence. The AVS anti-vibration system absorbs repeated shocks to protect the arm and wrist over a whole match or a long training session.

The hand-applied sanding of its hitting surface strengthens bite on the ball and underlines the artisanal character of the wood finish, slightly different from one racket to the next. The honeycomb silicone handle is wrapped in a black grip. Like every SCUD racket, the Wood S1 is produced as a limited edition, in a small run, for players as attached to the history of padel as to a reliable, natural control game.

Carbon
12K and fibreglass
The weave of the shell: the denser the fibre count, the crisper and more direct the response.
Core
Soft EVA
The foam at the heart of the face, which balances impact tolerance against energy return.
Shape
Teardrop
The outline of the face: the diamond raises the sweet spot for power, the teardrop recentres it for tolerance.
Weight
350 g
The mass of the racket: the heavier, the heavier the strike; the lighter, the more manoeuvrable.

Where the centre of gravity sits: head-heavy to attack, medium to build the point and recover fast.
Craft

How the Wood S1 is made.

Four workshop steps, the same across the whole range. Only the shell changes from one model to the next: on the Wood S1, the weave is 12K and fibreglass.

Macro of a SCUD racket face: the red-walled perforations and, between them, the grain of the hand-applied sanding
Hand-applied sanding
The face goes under the blaster piece by piece, the silica crystals spread by hand rather than sprayed by a machine set once and for all. That grain is what grips the ball on a slice, and it means no two rackets come out quite alike. What sanding changes to spin
Macro of a woven carbon sheet before layup: the flat tows can be counted one by one under a grazing light
The shell
Twelve thousand filaments per tow, backed with fibreglass: the shell absorbs where a stiff shell would return. That is what makes this model forgiving on balls taken late.12K or 18K: the difference on court
Macro of the heart of a SCUD racket: the gunmetal fork and the red AVS mark, just above the grip
AVS system
The device is set into the structure at layup, not added afterwards in the handle. It cuts the shocks before they reach the elbow: it does not change the first strike, it changes the end of the match.
Macro of the honeycomb silicone handle of a SCUD racket before the grip is fitted: a relief of stars and diamonds
Honeycomb grip
Under the grip, the handle is a silicone moulded in stars and diamonds. The relief sits in the palm without needing to be squeezed: less tension over three sets, less strain in the forearm.

Good to know

Frequently asked
questions.

What we get asked most often about the Wood S1. The answers apply to the whole range.

What level is the Wood S1 designed for?

The Wood S1 is the most accessible racket in the range: teardrop shape, 350 g, medium balance and soft EVA foam make it forgiving and comfortable, from the regular player still grooving their stroke to the advanced player who favours control and versatility.

How does it differ from the other SCUD models?

The Wood S1 is the only one with a teardrop shape, 350 g and medium balance, with a 12K carbon and fibreglass shell over soft EVA foam: it is the control and comfort model. Black Impact B3, White S3 and Mexique M1 are diamond-shaped, 365 g and head-heavy, with a firmer foam.

What are the delivery and return times?

Ships within 48 h, shipping €15 in France and €20 in the rest of the EU, free from €300. Returns accepted within 30 days, return shipping at your expense.
